Leadership that dates way back ...
and is always there for you.
Founded in 1962, the DEDEM is tied by commercial and operating links to the English group "Photo-Me", which operates in more than 100 countries throughout the world, providing automatic ID photo machines, plus a wide range of services and products in all areas of automation.
Our inalterable photos, found on millions of passports, drivers licenses and ID cards, constitute an unparalleled endorsement of our 50 years of operation in Italy.

Look around you... We are part of your identity DEDEM manages more than 5000 automated machines Italy, of which 3000 are booths for ID photos. The booths are our best known product and, for years now, have been part of the urban landscape and the day-to-day existence of Italys cities and towns. DEDEM operates both at its central headquarters in the town of Ariccia (Province of Rome), where it has at its disposal more than 20,000 square metres of administrative, office, production and storage space, and through more than 30 outlets located throughout Italy.
From the smallest small-town railway station to the biggest city, from shopping centres to market squares, from airports to municipal registry offices, our network of automated machines is always by your side, 24 hours a day, waiting to serve you!

Officially approved... in 1 minute! Our photos are approved throughout the world for use on official identification documents. In Italy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Transport have granted this approval since the 1960s. Photos that resist for more than 10 years, impossibility of falsification with electronic equipment, designed so that attempts at de-lamination destroy the picture, unbeatable price (lowest on the market), top-quality thermal-sublimation digital photographic paper tested in our laboratories, plus the extraordinary new digital machines with the ICAO system for electronic passports, ecological, multi-product and totally automated: who else offers nearly as much?

A key characteristic:
Exclusivity
A major new product from DEDEM is the line of booths for printing from digital files, named DigiPrint and PhotoPrint. The various versions are perfect for offering the public the full line of photo-store services in only half a square metre of space. In fact, the booths can make prints from digital cameras, CDs, DVDs and mobile phones. Innovative, versatile, they are equipped with extraordinary options and capabilities when it comes to printing formats and customised features. And then there is the Photo Kiddie Ride for photographing our youngest friends while they have fun on classic Kiddie Rides, with the Dinamico and Baby Park structures completing the line of offerings from DEDEM.

In the year 1962, a new company is created in Rome, Italy, under the name of DEDEM Automatica.
The purpose of the newly created enterprise is the installation throughout the country of automated booths from which the public can immediately obtain photos after inserting coins, a technology developed from the English Photo-me concern.
The delivery time for the automated photographs is a new record for Italy: only 3 minutes. And the cost? Just 100 Lire!
Customers stand in long lines at the Galleria Colonna to try out the extraordinary new development represented by the black and white photo machine.
In 1962 the Spanish company Tecnotron is also founded, together with the Israeli enterprise Fomat.
The first true headquarters in Roma is opened in 1963, at no. 113 Via Cavour, a building that held not only the company's offices, but also its repair shop and the unit for preparing the photographic products.
Other developments in 1963 included the opening of the zones of Turin, Naples and Catania.
In early 1964, the technical facilities were moved to the Via Ostilia and the company offices to the Via Marco Aurelio.

The zones of Genoa, Rimini, Bologna, Bari and Reggio Calabria were opened. Business grew by quantum leaps, as all of Italy was gradually covered by DEDEM's booth services.
In 1980 the Ariel Tecnica Spa facility for the production of photographic products was inaugurated in Town of Ariccia, from where the Group began exporting products to all its sister enterprises worldwide.
In the 1990's, the first mixed digital booths, equipped with chemical printing, were installed, while 1996 saw the introduction of the first fully digital booth, the VISO.
Also in the 90's, DEDEM started up a commercial and professional sector for photographers, selling the first mini-labs for photographic printing on the Italian market.

In 1996, DEDEM moved to a new, highly functional plant of almost 4000 square metres in Ariccia.
In September 2005 the Companys new commercial headquarters, complete with a showroom, was opened, once again in Ariccia.

Today the DEDEM Group is the leader in Mediterranean market for ID photos, with its 9000 booths, found in Italy, Spain, Israel and Romania, representing innovative but familiar network to all its potential customers. DEDEM booths are the most economical, rapid and popularly accepted way of taking ID photos.
In Italy alone, our booths are used for 12 million photo operations yearly.
Projects such as the electronic ID Card, ICAO format passports and the Electronic Drivers License, developed together with the Sicilian Motor Vehicle Department, are the kind of challenges we thrive on.

The introduction of new automated digital printing systems (kiosks), expansion of the Kiddie Rides sector and establishment of the new DINAMICO stores are the natural follow-up success stories in a sector where we have always been the leader.

In 2012, DEDEM celebrate its 50th anniversary, together with the millions of customers and partners who, over the years, have put their trust in us.

DEDEM operates more than 5000 vending booths in Italy, 3000 of which are ID photo booths.
These booths are our best known product, having been a part of the urban landscape and the day-to-day lives of Italian cities and towns for decades.
From the smallest small-town railway station to the biggest city, from shopping centres to market squares, from airports to municipal registry offices, our network of vending booths is always by your side, 24 hours a day, waiting to serve you!

The ANCI, the airports of Rome and Milan, Auchan, Autogrill, Citt Mercato-La Rinascente, Carrefour, Conad, Coop, Esselunga, Panorama, all the major shopping centres and malls, the State Railway System, the major railway stations, the subways of Milan, Rome and Naples, the Carabinieri Corps, the Navy, municipal governments and post office throughout Italy: these are only some of the partners that have placed our automated machines on their premises with success and satisfaction.

And every year millions of other people use our services for both institutional purposes (photographs for documents) and entertainment, curiosity or other needs.

Even after 50 years as the market leader, DEDEM Automatica is still looking to grow, though always with respect for the environment, as well as its customers and partners, so as to guarantee a quality product at the lowest price on the market.

To do so, DEDEM intends to keep turning out innovative machines and products while providing a precise and modern technical assistance: all this without ever loosing sight of the ethical and social objectives that are the underlying reasons for its enduring success.

At the same time the Company is committed to exploring and manufacturing new systems for recording images, as well as advances in the fields of security, live enrolment and bio-identification, investing in research and development, new technologies and a future sure to find it in a leading role for at least another forty years of success.

Over the years countless artists have used communications media in such a way as to create lasting modifications in our relationship with reality.

ID photo machines have followed these trends, serving, on various occasions, as examples, instruments and methods for everything from the visual arts to advertising and comics.
